Copper is a 12 year-old, 15 hand, sorrel Suffolk Punch x Quarter Horse gelding. He's at the absolute perfect age to teach new riders or to take riders who've lost their confidence on less reliable horses. He's a chunky monkey - an easy keeper. I've had the pleasure of owning him for the past 2 years. During that time, Copper has been trail ridden extensively by adults and kids as young as 6 years old and up. Our camp kids squabbled over who would get to ride Copper this past summer. He is a trail horse deluxe: unflappable on the trails and has done some arena work. He can be ridden English, Western, or bareback. He knows what he's doing even if his rider doesn't. In other words, he takes care of his rider. See the photo in the slideshow below of the camp kids headed out on the trail for the morning ride. Copper is trying to follow the guide and the rest of the kids out on the trail despite the fact that his kid is pulling back on both reins making his job even more challenging. Despite that, he carries on and does his best to give her a fun and safe riding experience. Watch the video of Copper coming in from a camper trail ride. He's the 5th horse in the line.

Most of the photos were taken in December, so he looks like a furry teddy bear, but he has an amazingly beautiful, full mane, tail, and forelock and gorgeous, kind, expressive eyes. You could even say he's sexy (if a horse could be called that).

If you like to load up and ride away from the farm on an organized ride, at a State Park, or National Forest, you'll be happy to know that Copper loads like a dream. See the video of him loading into a horse trailer in just 11 seconds! He travels quiet - no pawing the sides of your trailer or rocking it and causing it to fishtail as you go down the highway. He travels like a professional. We recently took him to do a special ride for a family on their own farm to satisfy a Christmas wish. We put the 6 year-old little girl on him that had never ridden before. This is how well he did with her and another little boy who also had no experience despit the fact that he had just been loaded, hauled, and immediately groomed, saddled, and ridden in an unfamiliar place with little to no direction from his riders. He's is truly a Saint, and he'll carry saddle bags with no problem. (See photo in the slideshow.)

If you like to lead a group of riders, Copper will lead at a nice pace, but he'll also ride in the middle, or bring up the rear as seen in this video. He doesn't fight against the bit to get to the front or ride the rump of the horse in front of him. He's totally relaxed in any position that you'd like to ride amongst a group of horses. But at the same time, he's one of our favorite horses to use for private rides when our customers want to trot and canter because Copper will canter with no buck and in reliable in that respect.

Copper is a true gentleman in every sense of the word both on the ground and in the saddle. See the video to witness that he stands still for mounting and dismounting. You can easily pick up all 4 feet. He's very easy to 'catch' when he's out in the pasture. In fact, he comes to you when you enter his pasture. When you meet Copper, you'll see right away that he loves attention and enjoys your company. So if you want a horse that you can bond with, look no further. Copper's your guy. And you don't have to take our word fot it, read the review in the slideshow below from Preston who rode Copper on our farm on Dec 7, 2025.
